A Family Hobby
Well, not my family exclusively. I saw this on Anne's Blog, but it's making the rounds. The game is this:
1. Pick 15 of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDb.com and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Right answers/affirmations will be posted in the comments section accordingly.
5. NO using Google or my Facebook profile or any other use of the intranets to CHEAT.
I definitely did not try to make this easier for the average person, but I think my family at least should have a decent shot at most of these. We shall see!
1. "It is I, Sidney Feldman."
2. "And when we die, and you are sent to heaven for doing your conscience, and I am sent to hell for not doing mine, will you come with me, for fellowship?"
3. "I bribed them to sing a song that would drive us insane and make our hearts swell and burst."
4. "Playing strip poker with an exhibitionist somehow takes the challenge away."
5. "You're not a god. You can take my word for it; this is twelve years of Catholic school talking."
6. "Caution is for popinjays and cockatoos!"
7. "Oh, I've got all the faith in the world in Johnny. Whatever he does is all right with me. If he wants to dream for a while, he can dream for a while, and if he wants to come back and sell peanuts, oh, how I'll believe in those peanuts!"
8. "Well, hellooo big dollop!"
9. "I couldn't help overhearing. I had my ear to the door."
10. "These eggs are positively glacial. When I run this house, senile servants will be the first thing to go."
11. "I'm not gonna say any more than I have to, if that."
12. "I'm Woodrow Wilson. Go to bed!"
13. " It's... it's... it's indescribably beautiful! It reminds me of the Fourth of July!"
14. "QUIT BAWLING! QUIT BAWLING!"
15. "Twentieth century? Why, I could pick a century out of a hat, blindfolded, and come up with a better one."

Anne gives it a good go, however, #9 is not correct. I think you could get numbers 6 & 15 if you applied yourself, and I thought you would have known #8. :oP Not bad though! I actually think Bess might do better at this particular list than you... we'll see.
OOH! Is #9 The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer? I know it's a "grandpa"-type character that says the line...
I did not look that one up, because I thought I had it right the first time. However, I looked up the others because I was so darn curious. So I do indeed know 6 and 15 now. I think those were the only ones I felt bad about missing.
Okay, here goes. I won't bother about the ones that were already guessed. (For the record, I would have missed some of those)
2. A Man for All Seasons
6. The Court Jester
7. ??Holiday??
8. ...not familiar
14. It Happened One Night
15. ...familiar, but cannot place it. It's an oldie, I think.
That was me, by the way.
Bess
Anne is right about #9 and Bess is right about #7 -- kudos to both! I will wait another day or so in case anyone else wants to have a go. (My burning curiosity is how I would have done on these quotes if someone else had posed them to me!)
The only ones I know are #8 (Holiday) and 13 (A Christmas Story). The other ones don't even sound familiar! :)
Great job, everybody! Yeah, these were definitely not mainstream favorites, but they are some of MY favorites, which I guess is the point.
