Turtles
You may have guessed that I finished Harry Potter 6 some time ago. For the record, it took me nine whole days to read -- speaking of which, since when is finishing a book in just over a week considered “slow”? I know, I know, since the book in question is the newest Harry Potter. How silly of me to ask! :o)
Yeah, I decided a few years back that my theme animal should be the turtle, due to my chronic slowness. Does anyone else have a theme animal, or am I the only one? (Not to be confused with your favorite animal. For the record, mine’s the fox.)

Well, I took that one personality/skills index that told me I'm a beaver personality type. That's probably a pretty close match, but a little too serious for me these days. Maybe more like a...
um...
Nope. Pretty much like a beaver. Hard working, thoughtful, and boring.

Favorite animal - Penguin
Harry Potter - 4 days
Beavers aren't ALL boring. Remember the one on Lady and the Tramp?
"[whistle]Ssssay! It works[whistle] [whistle]swell!"
He was always one of my favorite characters in that movie.
As for me, I think I'm a liger. It's pretty much my favorite animal It's like a lion and a tiger mixed... bred for its skills in magic.
Seriously, though, I tested as a lion in that same skills test, and tigers have always been my favorites, so it stands to reason, right?
I hate that test. I don't think I fit into any of those four categories. (Too passive to be a lion, too aloof to be a golden retriever, too laid-back to be a beaver, too introverted to be an otter.) Maybe I'm an owl--the absent-minded intellectual of the animal (or, avian, I guess) kingdom.

I read Harry Potter straight through in a 5 hour period, so I can't empathize with you on that count.
What is this animal test of which you all speak? I need to know what my power animal is!
What they're talking about is a personality test that Sam and I took back in the Dave & Pete days of Cov. Pres. Sunday School.
There are four animals, arranged in a square in order to indicate the somewhat opposing natures of those catty-corner from one another. (Clockwise, they're Lion, Beaver, Golden Retriever, Otter)
And here's what they stand for (more or less):
Lion -- The fierce leader
Beaver -- The organizer
Golden Retriever -- The caring supporter
Otter -- The fun-lover
I was a beaver-retriever the last time I checked.
Or, for a better explanation, you can go to the following site:
www.new-life.net/persnty1.htm
Sam -- May I be so bold as to suggest that you have some Lion in you, too?
Anne -- I always thought of you as a Lion-Otter!
Bess -- I agree: You are SO an owl!
I'm interested to know what conclusion you come to, Bethany, although Bess has already shown that the test does leave something to be desired. :o)
Kate - I definitely scored highest on beaver. Golden retriever was next highest, although it wasn't that much above lion and otter.
I retook the test at my church in Cinci and they did it in kind of a strange way. You answered questions both about what your perceptions of yourself ARE and what you ARE NOT. This leads to two personality traits and helps make up for the test bias.
The score of what you are translates into: "What I should/want to be" or "What others expect of me"
(~90% Beaver for me)
The opposite score of what you are not translates into: "What I actually am"
(~60% Beaver 30% Lion)
So yes Kate. I do have some repressed Lion in me. I think after my military association I'm probably even more balanced "Beavon" or "Libeav" or "Liver"
*In best Butthead voice*
(huh-huh, liver, huh-huh)

Kate, golden retriever/beaver types make excellent office support staff, don't they? I, too, am something of a beavtriever. More retriever though, always willing to get stomped on by the lions and otters around. Darn that caring/supportive personality type! ; )
RT
Amen to all that, RT!
Actually, while I used to be a very straight-forward "beavtriever", I think I'm a little more complicated now that I'm not as severely introverted. In fact, Lion is kind of a lagging #3, and Retriever is definitely playing 2nd fiddle. But that Beaver, it really leads the pack!
